Provenance
Sale: Hôtel Drouot, Paris, 14 December 1933, lot 2
Condition
The panel is bowing at the extreme left and right edges (convex), and ultraviolet light shows evidence of retouched, hairline vertical cracks along the length of the panel, one near the right edge and one near the left. There are also spots of retouching visible along the lower edge and to the lighter pigments in the upper half of the composition. There are scattered spots of frame rubbing along the extreme edges of the panel, and there is evidence of overcleaning. This work exhibits a delicate palette and clean surface. Held in an ornate, gold-painted moulded plaster and wood frame.
