Condition
Original canvas. There is old retouching along the extreme edges addressing frame rubbing, and a few scattered spots (largely pinhole-sized). There is a repaired puncture (patched on the reverse) in the folds of her dress lower left, and some scattered stable craquelure overall. The work would benefit from a light clean. Held in its original ornate Salon-style gilt plaster and wood frame.

Catalogue Note
Painted in 1875. An etching of the present work was executed by Abel Lurat (1829-1890), an etcher and engraver who himself regularly exhibited at the Paris Salon after 1865, and won acclaim for his interpretations of contemporary French paintings.
