Catalogue Note

According to Noë Willer, 'Fausto Giusto' could be one of Galien-Laloue's pseudonyms, but he does not rule out that the signature could have been added by another hand.

Both works bear a stamp of Galien-Laloue's signature on the reverse. The stamp was introduced by Madame André, the artist's great-granddaughter, who used it on the unsigned works which she inherited from him. In certain cases she also used it on sold works whose provenance could be traced back to Galien's studio. Noé Willer has since been given the stamp by Mme André, as well as the exclusive permission to use it.
