Condition
The canvas has been re-lined. There is scattered retouching to the sky and along the upper half of the extreme right edge, visible under ultraviolet light. Apart from scattered spots of frame rubbing and discoloured retouching along the extreme edges, a small area of yellowed varnish along the centre of the extreme right edge, and fine hairline craquelure to the sky, this work is in good condition, with a clean surface and fresh, rich colours. Held in a decorative, muted gold-painted moulded plaster and wood frame.

Catalogue Note
In this sweeping view of the waterfront at Marina Grande, Capri's main harbour, del Campo captures the everyday life of what was then a bustling fishing port and the centre of the island's economy. The upper floors of the houses served as a living space while the ground floor doubled up as a boat house, evidence of the islanders' dependence on the sea, their ancient lifestyle and cultural roots. At the top of the cliffs towering above the port is the village of Anacapri, approached by a narrow winding road hewn into the side of the sheer cliff face.
