4to (200x140 mm), prima edizione, 16 carte, 28 linee, carattere romano, antiche annotazioni marginali in latino e greco, una manicula, un piccolo disegno di figura maschile sul margine bianco della carta c2, cartone coevo con lettera R manoscritta al piatto anteriore. Qualche piccola macchia, porzione superiore del lato esterno lacunosa con perdita di parte di alcune note marginali.

Ancient marginal hand-written notes in Latin and Greek, a manicula, a small drawing of a man on the blank margin of leave c2. Some small stains, a loss of paper due to the bite of an animal on the top outer margin with loss of part of some hand-written marginalia.

Pietro da Ravenna (Pietro Tommai), autore di questo breve trattato sulla mnemotecnica, sosteneva di aver individuato più di centomila "luoghi di memoria", così da poter superare chiunque nella conoscenza delle sacre scritture e della legge. Tommai si propose come esempio vivente della validità di un'arte che aveva affascinato molti studiosi, ottenendo una fama imperitura. Le sue teorie ebbero grande influenza anche sulle opere di Giordano Bruno.
