Condition

Overall the condition of the marble is very good. Thre is some minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are restored breaks to the little finger of the right hand and to the left wrist.

Catalogue Note

Born in Tricessimo, Italy, Madrassi studied in Paris at the École des Beaux-Arts and then joined Carrier-Belleuse's studio. Although Italian by birth, Madrassi immersed himself in the French Academic System. He exhibited at the Salon from 1887, gained French citizenship and became a member of the Société des Artistes Française in 1890.
