2 full-page miniatures, on complete leaves from an illuminated liturgical manuscript enclosing (a) SS. Nicolas with the three boys in the pickling tub, and Margaret with her winged dragon, within a detailed gothic interior supported by five pillars, and overlooking rolling hills with a windmill and trees, 226mm. by 155mm. (small spot of water damage to Nicolas's cope, and a tiny flake of paint missing from his nose), 20 lines of late gothic script on verso with two 2-line initials in liquid gold on coloured grounds, containing prayers to the father and the son; (b) St. Catherine with her sword and wheel, and a female saint with an open book, standing before an open grassy landscape with bushes, trees and a church on top of a rocky hill, 226mm. by 150mm. (slight offset of words from facing page in lower right corner, negligible damage from fold to upper left corner), 5 lines of text on verso; both miniatures within architectural frames, and laid down on card with modern borders added in neo-gothic designs, framed; overall in excellent and appealing condition
