5 items, including (a) a large vellum roll containing copies of 8 records relating to Jacobus a Varo, a medical doctor of Ferrara, 370mm. by 2620mm., brown ink in a small and readable secretarial hand, some staining and wear to outermost leaf, and large vertical tear of approximately 140mm., else in fine and sturdy condition, Ferrara, c. 1420; (b) a paper document containing inventories, accounts and notes of architectural materials to be delivered to an industrial kiln in the area of Gessi di Giusanega (or 'Gusana') in Bergamo, 285mm. by 205mm., dark brown ink in a small secretarial hand (the site is known from documents of the nineteenth century onwards to have been used for this purpose, but this predates those by approximately three centuries), folding and some small rust spots (perhaps from having been pinned to another document), else excellent condition, Bergamo, 1520; (c) a large vellum document concerning an agreement between a nobleman Alessandro of Mantova and the Episcopal estate there, written by the notary Piro Rizzardi, an inhabitant of the district of 'the unicorn' (contrada dell'Unicorno), 505mm. by 280mm., folding and some discoloured patches, else in fine condition; plus two small paper volumes containing large collections of documents from the 1440s, the first 150mm. by 105mm. and with 41 leaves, the other 150mm, by 110mm and with 66 leaves, both with some damage to endleaves and edges, in contemporary limp vellum bindings
