Description

a cutting, 157 mm. by 92 mm., the central portion of an initial, probably 'O', possibly 'D' (possibly the introit "Dilexisti justiciam" for a virgin not a martyr), a half-length figure of a fair-haired young woman, her hands crossed over her breast, wearing a grey cloak over a yellow dress trimmed with gold, highly burnished gold ground, within part of a coloured leafy initial, verso with parts of 2 lines of music on 4-line red stave and of text in a rounded gothic hand, in moulded wooden frame

From the same manuscript as the previous lot, illuminated by the Master of the Murano Gradual, from the Gradual illuminated for the Camaldolese monastery of San Michele on the island of Murano, Venice.
