Catalogue Note
A good copy. Pertusier was in Constantinople for several years as aide-de-campe to General Andreossy who was French ambassador to the Porte. "The atlas (which is of some rarity) contains fine and very interesting plates by Michel-François Preault, an architect... His illustrations are to be found in works by Andreossy and others... [and] many of his drawings were engraved for Clarke's Travels... The drawings he produced for Pertusier, engraved by Piringer, are among his finest" (Blackmer).
