Catalogue Note

Rare. Gorgevic, a Hungarian, was taken prisoner by the Turks at the battle of Mohacs in 1526 and spent thirteen years in captivity. After several attempts he managed to escape, found his way to Jerusalem and eventually reached Europe. The book contains a vocabulary, the rules of grammar, the formulae for "politesse" and a model dialogue between a Christian and a Turk.
