Catalogue Note

A souvenir album belonging to the daughters of the governor of New South Wales, Victor Albert George Child Villiers, seventh Earl of Jersey (1845-1915). Jersey was appointed governor of New South Wales in 1890 and arrived in Sydney in January 1891, he resigned in 1892 on the grounds of pressing business affairs and left on 2 March 1893. This album was presumably a souvenir given to his daughters Lady Margaret (1875-1959) and Lady Mary (1877-1933), whose names appear stamped in gilt on the upper cover.
