Folio (402 x 257mm.), hand-coloured engraved frontispiece heightened in gold (dated 1772), letterpress description of the frontispiece, title printed in red and black with hand-coloured vignette, 6pp. list of subscribers, 14 hand-coloured double-page plates, old calf, preserved in calf slipcase, some plates split at lower fold into engraved text but not image, one plate lightly browned, small marginal loss to one plate, a little light spotting and dust-soiling, binding and slipcase rubbed

Catalogue Note

A finely illustrated record of the first official visit to Amsterdam from 30 May to 6 June 1768 of William V of Orange and his wife Frederika Sophia Wilhelmina of Prussia. This copy has an engraved frontispiece with the publisher's name Johannes Smit and date 1772, single page explanatory poem and a 6pp. subscribers' list which were not part of the original issue of this work.
