Large wall-map on 8 sheets joined, 1500 x 2050mm., complete with additional panels bearing the running title, the side panels each with 8 vignette views of prominent buildings, and the descriptive text along the lower border, backed on original linen, original roller [Gino Moretto, Veneti. Le immagini della Repubblica, 152], some tears in map and slight discoloration

Catalogue Note

This plan was the first of Venice based on an accurate field survey, with its size allowing for considerable detail, and served as the prototype for all plans of Venice almost to the end of the century. According to Moretto it is an "orthographic plan of great scientific, documentary, and ornamental value".
