Catalogue Note

Fine plan of Winchester, notable for the border illustrations of important local buildings, surveyed and published by William Godson, who learned that trade while apprenticed to Charles Price, one of the leading mapmakers and publishers in London in the first quarter of the century. Among the illustrations is an image of what was believed to be King Arthur's Round Table, marking the seats of each of his knights.
