Catalogue Note
Copperwhite's work is built up of visual images from memory, some personal and some removed and her intense yet iridescent palette evokes a dream-like quality. Although the present work appears to focus on the individual, the artist seeks to explore what she refers to as 'the idea of somebody' rather than any recognisable person.
Born in Limerick, Copperwhite studied at the Limerick School of Art and Design, the N.C.A.D. and the Winchester School of Art. She has exhibited extensively including solo exhibitions at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Dublin; the Limerick City Gallery of Art and the Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris. She was awarded the AIB Art Prize in 2007.
