Condition
The canvas is lined. There is an area of minor surface craquelure to the sea above the middle of the lower edge and some other very minor scattered areas otherwise the surface is clean and in good overall condition.
Under ultraviolet light, there are some small flecks of retouching in the sky, above the hills, to the sea and below the woman on the rocks by the left edge.
Held in a plaster gilt frame.

Catalogue Note
The present work was most likely painted off the coast of Donegal where Bartlett painted extensively from 1900 and focused in particular on capturing the everyday way of life of the fishermen and crofters around Rutland Island.
