Description

  • A BRONZE PALA REVIVAL FIGURE OF PADMAPANI, TIBET, 18TH CENTURY
  • 24.7cm and 19cm respectively
standing in sinuous tribhanga on a lotus base, the slender swaying body hung with scarves and jewels, a horn moon on a lotus spray rising from the base and held by his right hand; together with a gilt bronze figure of Vajrapani, Tibet, 17th Century, standing on two Naga, his beard held beneath his fangs, with a blessing portal to his back, on a double lotus base

Condition

Padmapani - The stem of the lotus has possibly been broken and repaired below the right hand, the end of the scarf beside the left foot has a pin reinforcement on the reverse, the top of the base behind the figure has some restoration, possibly the base of a mandorla now missing Vajrapani - there is a support joining the figure to the base in the centre, possibly later, the top of the stem in his right hand now missing
