Condition

This is a complexly fitted piece in very good original condition. With minor scratches and rubbing to the gold leaf surfaces to exterior of the case. The proper right bottom edge of the case with losses to gold leaf and some lifting to the veneer along both the bottom edge and the back. This damage extends up from the bottom border about 6 inches. Possible water damage. Proper left side of the case only finished with gold leaf approximate four inches in from the outer edge. The rest is a natural wood panel. The gold leaf adjacent to the fall front element with considerable rubbing with large amounts of the red underlayer visible. The fall front element currently unable to remain in the closed position. With a series of wooden doors to the vanity below the fallfront. The inset shelf to the proper right side of the case with a slate shelf and velour sides. With a small lighting track which has come loose. The top pair of drawers to the top of the case open to reveal a green painted interior with two adjustable green felt covered shelves. This portion of the case does not have a back panel. The next pair of drawers and the fall front open to reveal a green painted open compartment. The top portion contains a mirror fronted door which opens to a large storage area and a small velour covered panel. Adjacent to the mirror are a series of inset small vanity lights, all of which are functional. The interior panels of the case doors also with mirrors. The mirrors are decorated with metal components to the cover the hardware designed by Paul Evans. The inside of the fall front with an inset laminate panel. The five drawers to the case open with ease. A unique and intricate custom work by Powell.
