- Pair of "Strips" Sofas
polyurethane, fabric upholstery and plastic zippers
Provenance
Philip Johnson and David Whitney, Rockefeller Guest House, New York
Private Collection, New York
Phillips, de Pury & Luxembourg, New York, November 19, 2002, lot 22
Condition
Overall good original condition. The original upholstery with some staining and discoloration consistent with use as seen in the catalogue illustration. The covers fitted with black zippers. The interior polyurethane with some signs of aging, as there is a light powder which has been expelled to the underside of the chairs and has left some staining to the adjacent woll fabric. This staining is concentrated to the underside and not visible once the pieces are righted. Woolen fabric with slight nubby texture from use. A rare example of the form with excellent provenance.
