Provenance

Purchased Sotheby's, New York, 10th May 1985, lot 394

Condition

Old marks ,chips and scratches commensurate with age and usage and some minor losses. There has been some shrinkage to the panels leaving gaps which can easily be filled. Evidence of old glue on the lower section of the roundel of both. Some old minor restorations and replacement, e.g. a section of moulding on the top right of the door with Jesus. It is possible that there was more carving at the base of the roundel on the foliate section as there is evidence of previous fixing. Very attractive detail to carving. Colour slightly uneven and would benefit from a repolish according to taste.
