The canvas has been lined, evidence of which is visible at the extreme right and upper edges. There is craquelure and paint separation to the paint surface, particularly to the area upper left of centre. There is bitumen to the paint surface, particularly in the right hand section of the work. Ultraviolet light reveals extensive retouching throughout the work, particularly to the sky area, to the tress at the left and right of the composition as well as to the central and lower foregrounds. Held in a heavily decorated gold painted frame in fair condition.
