Catalogue Note
The St Petersburg artist F.K. Platonov is known to have created icons in partnership with Fabergé and the Gratchev Brothers for baptisms and wedding ceremonies of the Imperial Family. In contrast with his contemporary, the Moscow painter Gurianov, Platonov painted his icons in a more naturalistic style, typical of St Petersburg work at that time.
