Emperor Alexander I and Empress Elizabeth Alexeevna, two portrait miniatures, by Henry Benner, 1817 and 1824

Overall the miniatures are in good condition. The colours have remained strong. The paper has discoloured in an extremely minor way on the miniature of the Emperor and there are one or two very minor fox marks. On both miniatures the gum arabic is beginning to craze. The works have been well preserved. The mounts are most likely of low-carat gold, but have not been removed and tested.
