Description

  • frame: 14 by 8.5cm, 5 1/2 by 3 3/8 in.
the saint painted full-length on slate, the frame applied with raised quatrefoils and filigree scrolls within rope twist borders, wood back and strut, with workmaster's initials and Fabergé in Cyrillic, scratched inventory number 9602, 88 standard, in original fitted wood case with strut

Condition

There are areas of paint loss to the background, however the image of the saint appears to be intact. The flaking of the paint has been stabilised. There is very slight wear to the gilding, consistent with age and use. A very rare and attractive piece.
