Condition
Original canvas. There is some light surface dirt. There is some paint loss in the lower left and right corners. UV light reveals an opaque layer of uneven varnish which prevents a more conclusive examination. Held in a gold painted plaster frame. Unexamined out of frame.

The son of a Saratov merchant, Alexander Savinov studied at the Academy of Arts under Dmitry Kardovsky. He is best known for his landscapes and genre paintings a number of which hang in Russian national collections such as the State Treyakov Gallery, Moscow and the State Russian Museum. St. Petersburg.
