Condition
Original canvas ?. The paint surface is quite dirty with a layer of discoloured varnish. There are a few lines of fine craquelure in places e.g. lower left quadrant. UV light reveals some spots of retouching to the edges, very small flecks of retouching in places throughout the composition and what appears to be a larger area of overpainting at the base of the violin. Held in an impressive black and gold painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
