Description

- signed in Latin and dated 1876 l.l.; further signed in Latin and dated 1876 on the reverse

Condition
The picture has been strip-lined. There are 2 invisible repairs to the reverse. The paint surface has recently been cleaned. There are fine lines of craquelure mostly concentrated to the edges, where there are some small flecks of paintloss (e.g. t.l. and l.r.). There is a line of old retouching and discoloured varnish running down the right hand side. UV light reveals several spots of retouching to the sky, an area of retouching around the moon and som infilling to the craquelure to the lower right of the closest ship. There are some flecks of retouching to the edges. Held in a simple gold painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
