  • portrait of peter II
  • oil on canvas
  • 82.5 by 63.5cm., 32 1/2 by 25in.

Condition

The canvas has been lined. There is an overpainted inscription (reading Peter II) to the reverse of the canvas, The paint surface is quite dirty with a layer of discoloured varnish. There are some surface scuffs just visible to the inner frame edge and a few minor surface scratches in places. UV light reveals several small spots of old retouching in places and to the edges but an opaque layer of varnish prevents a more conclusive examination. Held in a gold painted wooden frame with moulded corners. Unexamined out of frame.
