Description
each plate with the Cyrillic cypher MP beneath an Imperial crown, apparently for Grand Duke Mikhail Pavlovich (1798-1849). This maker has not previously been associated with the extensive service produced in Paris mainly by Jean-Charles Cahier and Martin-Guillaume Biennais, which was a gift from Emperor Alexander I to his brother, Grand Duke Mikhail Pavlovich.
