the six-sided frame applied with swags hanging from bow knots and a ribbon-tied wreath, the silver border chased with acanthus leaves and the top set with scrolling, classical foliage, with one circular and three oval apertures, with wooden back and shaped strut

Fabergé's workmasters exploited the decorative qualities of many types of wood, particularly for silver- and enamel-mounted presentation and gift frames.
