Catalogue Note

Johann Victor Aarne (1863-1934) had his own workshop and was a supplier to Fabergé from 1880 to 1904, when he retired and sold his workshop to Hjalmar Armfelt.  The Third Artel, located in St. Petersburg, was formed by a number of Fabergé's former workmen and was known for creating delicate objects decorated in guilloché enamel.
