Condition
Oil on canvas. The surface is very slightly dirty and covered with a layer of varnish. There is some very minor staining in the lower right corner. The picture appears to be in overall fine state. There is very nice impasto work in the water and boat imagery. Under UV pigment fluoresces in the sky and mountain area (about a 3 inch V shape) over the boatman's head. This appears to be a repair to the paint layer. Other pigments fluoresce but the varnish prevents a conclusive analysis. Held in a gold painted wood frame with plaster molding and cloth slip. Unexamined out of frame.
