Catalogue Note

The Cottage Service was the first example of a coordinated glass and porcelain service being ordered simultaneously from the Imperial Glass and Porcelain Manufactories. It was also unusually complex, comprising four sizes of wine glasses, champagne glasses, and tumblers. See Karen Kettering, Russian Glass at Hillwood, Washington, DC, 2001, pp. 41-43.
