Catalogue Note

The present lot sold with accompanying document from Simon Beilitz (Beliz) confirming his sale of the flatware to the Barosins in 1938.  The Riga-born Russian emigré Simon L'vovich Beilitz (1898-1980) settled in Paris in the mid-twenties, where he established a small, but important gallery of Russian art in his apartment.  He purchased many imperial Russian treasures from impoverished Russian aristocrats in emigration.
