Description

  • with unidentified Cyrillic workmaster's initials A.P.  Contained in original, fitted oak case.  Together with a Karelian birch serving spoon mounted in silver and enamel.
  • Length 10 1/4 in.
  • 26 cm
enameled with colorful foliage, the shaped handle supported by an exotic sea serpent and applied with the monogram CM

Provenance

The monogram CM on the handle of this kovsh is for Clara Muser, née Brügmann (1863-1921).  She was married to Konrad Muser in 1883 and this kovsh has descended in the family to the present owner.

Condition

overall good condition; the oak box is cracked and the wood of the accompanying spoon is somewhat worn
