St. Nicholas is shown half length in bishop's vestments, blessing with one hand and holding the Gospels in the other, Christ blesses the saint from the upper left corner and the Mother of God leans to protect him with her veil in the upper right, with richly chased gilded oklad and halos applied above each of the holy figures, a white enamel plaque with the saint's name in black applied at the base of the front
