Description
- the teapot 12cm, 4 3/4 in high
the terminal engraved with a C in monogram below an earl's coronet, for Courtenay, Earls of Devon; together with an Edward VII silver caster, William Hutton & Sons Ltd., London, 1906, engraved with two crests, Courtenay, Earls of Devon; a Victorian silver milk jug and sugar basin, Joseph Angell, London, 1858/9, each engraved with a crest (dolphin) for the Earls of Devon; a George III silver teapot, probably Thomas and Rowland Hastings, London, 1804, ivory handle and finial, the body engraved with the (worn) arms of Courtney quartering De Reviers or De Vernon, Earls of Devon; a George III silver child's mug, Rebecca Emes and Edward Barnard, London, 1817, engraved with the initials AML; and a George III silver milk jug, Benjamin Mordecai, London, 1778, engraved with a crest (dolphin) of Courtenay and the initials GC (7)
Condition
Ladle: maker's mark indistinct, feather edge worn, engraved monogram and coronet good
Caster: maker's mark partly worn, overall good condition
Milk jug and sugar basin: bright-cut decoration worn, the sugar basin with small hole to one corner of upper shoulder, marks good
Teapot: body with dented surface area overall and very worn coat-of-arms, clearly marked on base and with lion passant on cover, hairline cracks to ivory
Child's mug: the body with numberous small dents, marks slightly worn
Milk jug: foot and lip each with a small split, body with two small dents, dark patina as seen in catalogue

Catalogue Note
The initials on the child's mug are those of Lady Anna Maria Leslie (1815/17-1897), daughter of Henrietta Anne, 14th Countess of Rothes, who married on 6 January 1835 the Rev. Henry Hugh Courtenay, 13th Earl of Devon (1811-1904) who succeeded to the title upon the death in 1891 of his unmarried nephew, Edward Baldwin Courtenay, 12th Earl of Devon.
