Catalogue Note
Blades had a showroom in St. Pauls Churchyard, London and was a celebrated glass maker during the reigns of George III and George IV. He was cut glass manufacturer to 'His Majesty' in 1789 and undertook a number of important commissions for foreign dignitaries. The use of finely cut glass and Neo-Classical style gilt-metal recalls comparative pieces by Blades.
