Description

  • width 8.5cm, 3 3/8 in
oval, the lid inset with an oval Geneva enamel plaque painted with Palemon and Lavinia, within white enamel laurel border, the ground, sides and base decorated in a rich deep purple translucent enamel over sunray engine-turning edged with delicate two-colour gold paillon oakleaf and ribbon interlaced garlands, narrow opaque white enamel borders, maker's mark incuse between three sunbursts, the rim numbered: 1034

Condition

chip to enamel on centre of front rim which has been reglued; enamel on sides has been excellently restored; excellent impression with some firing flaws/scrapes to both white enamel borders and purple enamel of lid border ; also very minor short scratches on base
