opaque glass plates with dual verniers, mercury thermometer

Provenance

Acquired by Albert Edward Delaval Astley, 21st Lord Hastings (1882-1956) for Melton Constable and thence by descent.

Condition

Tube contains some mercury but the level is low and there has been some leaking from the cistern. Glass plates are rather dirty. Case has one or two minor marks but otherwise in generally good condtion. With two vernier adjustment knobs.
