Description
- Helen Levitt
- NEW YORK (MASKED BOYS)
signed and numbered '#3' in pencil on the reverse, circa 1940, probably printed in the late 1950s or 1960s (A Way of Seeing, pl. 9)
Provenance
Acquired from Donna Schneier, Inc., New York, 1976
Condition
This print, on double-weight paper with a surface sheen, is in generally very good condition. The edges are rubbed, with some nicks and tiny emulsion loss at the right edge and corners. The corners are bumped. In raking light, the following are visible: tiny deposits of original retouching, particularly at the right side; small sharp creases in the lower left corner that break the emulsion. When examined with a black light, this print appears to fluoresce slightly.
