Condition

This print, on double-weight paper with a surface sheen, is in generally excellent condition. There are indications of some faint scratches and marks, but these are in the negative. While the photographer dated this image '1948,' it is known to have been made in the mid-1950s. Although its exact printing date is not known, it was likely made after the 1970s.

Catalogue Note

At K & M Camera in New York in May 2007, photographer Alexandra Klasinski overheard Robert Frank asking about whether the store might have a Russian Lomo camera in stock.  He was told that they did not, whereupon Klasinski pulled one from her bag and offered it to him.  In gratitude, Frank gave Klasinski this print, along with a signed copy of The Americans.
