Catalogue Note

The one-page letter that accompanies this lot is in Kertész's hand, in ink, in Hungarian.  It appears on the back of an age-darkened photocopy of Hilton Kramer's lengthy review of a Kertész exhibition that was published in The New York Times on 17 January 1973.  The exhibition, André Kertész: Themes and Variations, was held at the Hallmark Gallery at Fifth Avenue and 56th Street.
