  • NEW YORK AT NIGHT
mounted, signed on the mount, the 'Abbott, Maine' studio stamp on the reverse, framed, 1932, printed later

Provenance

Acquired by the present owner from Sotheby's New York, 18 April 1997, Sale 6973, Lot 145

Literature

Photographs, p. 120; O'Neal, frontispiece and pp. 104-05; Modern Vision, pl. 9

Condition

This photograph is in generally very good condition. There is very minor wear along portions of the top and bottom edges, resulting in a few tiny areas where the emulsion has lifted and folded. There is a 1/8-inch linear accretion of indeterminate nature on the surface of the photograph in the upper right quadrant. The phrase 'gold toned' is impressed upon the center of the photograph, but is visible only under close inspection in raking light. Also visible in raking light are a few pinpoint indentations and a small linear indentation, none of which breaks the emulsion. Some of the dry-mounting tissue is visible at the periphery of the image on the mount.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above.
