Description
- Robert Frank
- UNTITLED (HEARSE, BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA)
signed in the margin, Robert Frank Archive and copyright stamps on the reverse, 1955, probably printed in the 1960s
Condition
This warm-toned photograph, on double-weight paper with a semi-glossy surface, is in generally excellent condition. The corners are lightly bumped, and there is slight wear at the edges. There is a very faint 9 1/2-inch graphite line that does not affect the image along the bottom margin edge. Visible in raking light are 4 sharp handling creases measuring 1/8 - 3/4 inches, and a 1/2-inch soft handling crease. None of these breaks the emulsion.
On the reverse, the photograph is annotated 'RF 73.182,' '260' (circled), and '267' (circled and then erased) in an unidentified hand in pencil. Our assessment of the print date is based on the slightly warm tone of the print.
