Condition

Apart from very light silvering in a few dark spots near the edges, both prints in near pristine condition. The unillustrated print is taped to its window mount from the reverse.

Catalogue Note

Built in 1927 by the architects Walter and Johannes Krüger as the 'Tannenberg Reich monument' and converted in 1936 into the 'Monument for Paul Hindenburg', the place was destroyed in 1945. Some of the pictures from the series Schmölz photographed here in 1936 were published in the magazine Die Kunst im Dritten Reich, in 1937.
