- Dominique Achille Coeulte
- Two French Daguerreotypes, 1840s
Quarter-plate daguerreotypes, framed, one of which is signed (by incising) 'Coeulte' in two places on the image, and which bears a Coeulte label on the reverse.
Condition
Both worn at edges, and in damaged framing materials. But both in good condtiion as regards surface and principal image materials.
Couelte label reads: "Daguerreotype exécuté par Coeulte Artiste Photographique Boulevard des Filles du Calvaire, 1. Entre le Boulanger et le Md. { Marchand } de Casquettes.

Catalogue Note
Coeulte is one of the names who keeps recurring in the early history of photography but whose details remain tantalisingly out of reach. He worked at one time in Nancy, also as here, in Paris, and his pictures are of consistently high quality.
