Good condition overall with very minor surface wear and oxidation in the crevisses. Very attractive piece.

D'origine roumaine, le sculpteur Demetre H. Chiparus (1888-1947) se forma en Italie avant de s'installer à Paris. Il se spécialisa dans les sujets féminins, comme les danseuses aux noms explicites tels "Cléopâtre" ou "Schéhérazade". Editée en bronze et en ivoire, la Danseuse égyptienne rappelle par la richesse de sa polychromie les statuettes chryséléphantines produites par l'artiste.
