Le peintre Henrik-August Ankarcrona était colonel dans l'armée suédoise puis entra au service de la France,et fit la campagne du Maroc en 1859. L'année suivante, il servit l'armée espagnole. Ses oeuvres illustrent la colonisation du Maroc au XIXe siècle.
